Northern
Ireland Local Government Elections |
| |
|
The elections for Northern Ireland's 26 local councils
took place on 5 May, 2005, simultaneously with the
Westminster election.
This was the ninth set of elections since the local
councils were reorganised in 1973, and the fourth on the
boundaries set up for the 1993 elections.
These elections saw further advances for the DUP and Sinn
Féin at the expense of the other main parties and smaller
groupings (apart from Alliance, which held its ground).
