Seven new directors were elected to the Board of the
Confederation of European Councillors after the recent
Annual General Meeting. The changes reflected
changes within the Local Authority Members Association
since the 2004 Local Government elections.
The Annual General Meeting of the Board on 24th March
saw the retirement of outgoing Chairman Senator Jim Walsh,
Senator James Bannon, Cllrs Al McDonnell, Sinead Guckian,
Pat Hayes and Mr Michael Lawlor.
NAC Chairman Cllr Bertie Montgomery was elected as
interim chairman at the first meeting of the new board.
His tenure will cover the remainder of the present
project. New directors include:
- Cllr Declan Bree (Labour) – Sligo Borough Council
- Cllr Michael Cahill (Fianna Fail) – Kerry County
Council
- Cllr John Connor (Fine Gael) – Roscommon County
Council
- Cllr Niall Dennehy (Fianna Fail) – Clonmel Town
Council
- Cllr Rainsford Hendy (Fine Gael) – Kildare County
Council
- Cllr Maura Maguire-Lynch (Fine Gael) – Cavan County
Council
- Cllr Kevin Sheahan (Fianna Fail) – Limerick County
Council
