Following
the local elections in June, the Local Authority Members
Association (LAMA) in the Republic of Ireland has elected
a new executive committee from its Annual General Meeting
on 25th September.
Outgoing chair
Michael Lawlor (FF - Wicklow) stepped down from the
position, while Senator James Bannon (FG - Longford)
vacated the General Secretary's post, as the dual mandate
prevented him from continuing as a local representative.
Cllr Billy Ireland
(FG - Kilkenny) was elected to the chair having held
the vice-chair position for the past three years. CEC
board member Cllr Sinead Guckian (FF - Leitrim) is now
vice-chairman, while fellow CEC board member Alderman
Pat Hayes (Lab - Waterford) was elected as treasurer
in place of Leo Conlon (FG - Sligo) and Willie McKenna
(FF - Monaghan), both of whom were retiring.
Outgoing PRO
Kevin Sheahan (FF - Limerick) was elected as Secretary.
